BoomTown Mobile Creates an Internal DEI Team
Our vision is to use our unique skill sets to provide technical solutions to problems around diversity, equity, and inclusion.
In response to the nationwide upheaval regarding social injustice in 2020, BoomTown Leadership held a “We Are Listening” town-hall around diversity, equity, and inclusion. Their decision to lead by example encouraged us to do the same! So as mostly technical professionals we created an internal (BoomTown Mobile) DEI group addressing these issues in our own way.
Our vision is to use our unique skill sets to provide technical solutions to problems around diversity, equity, and inclusion. We want to create awareness, understanding, advocacy, and empathy around these issues through our actions. We have two primary goals:To improve accessibility for the BoomTown Now and HomeSearch Now apps. Secondly, to develop a mobile application allowing students (h.s. & college) to communicate with BoomTown professionals (Boomers) regarding their career paths.
Providing wider access to our applications and sharing our knowledge with the greater community exemplifies the BoomTown core beliefs of Seeking and Sharing Knowledge and Creating Amazing Experiences.

Boomer Jasmine Mai / Associate Software Engineer in Test created this logo for the Ask a Professional App. It is a Shiba Inu, which is known for its "spirited boldness" (悍威, kan'i), "good nature" (良性, ryōsei), and "artlessness" (素朴, soboku). We thought these qualities embodied the users/students interested in furthering their knowledge and future prospects by using this app allowing students (h.s. & college) to communicate with BoomTown professionals (Boomers) regarding their career paths.
